What? Me? technophobic? I have the latest iPhone, my
office is jam packed with USB gadgets and my car is a
Prius, how much more techno friendly can one get?
That is all fine, but looking beyond fun technologies that we
play with just for fun, or natural, but cool and useful,
evolutions come to most of us easily. But can you honestly say (I
can't) that you always look at the promise of a new technology
and never have never looked at it not from the point of view of
the obvious new advantages, when the technology has developed
into something useful, and instead just looked at it and judged
this new technology only from it's first, shaky,
implementation?
When I was in my early teens (which occurred around the time just
after Mayflower had arrived in New England) my family moved into
our first own house. My parents were running a restaurant at the
time (they ran one or the other all through my childhood) and …

ClouSE 1.0b.1.8 is released
OblakSoft is pleased to announce the release of ClouSE Beta version 1.0b.1.8. This is a minor maintenance release that addresses a couple pain points, while we’re working on a release candidate that will bring the built-in point-in-time recovery and other major features.
Here is the summary of changes:
- Improved caching for Weblobs
Now ClouSE sets the cache control headers for Weblobs. The
cache control headers specify the max-age
directive
that allows caching content for one year. This makes
proxies and content delivery networks (CDN) more efficient.
The change resolves this support issue.
- Improved error handling on startup
Now database requests fail if …
[Read more]Updating ClouSE can now be done with one command
With more than a thousand registered users
worldwide, guiding customers through the upgrade process is
getting hard, so we decided to automate the servicing
steps. Now the update-clouse
script can be
used to update ClouSE binaries to the current version. This
script ships with the ClouSE binary distribution.
Here is an example of updating ClouSE using the Webmin console.
First, download ClouSE 64-bit binaries from http://www.oblaksoft.com/downloads/. Then upload and extract the binaries to the /home/ec2-user directory. In Webmin, navigate to Others, then to Upload and Download, then …

Those who are familiar with me know I've a dream.
5 years ago I decided to leave a systems
integrator where I was doing great. Why? I wanted to be in a
company with the same growth prospects that Oracle had in the
80s. I dreamed to be in the Oracle of 30 years
ago and, as time travel wasn't affordable, I decided to join
MySQL AB to help expand the business in Europe, the Middle East
and Africa.
A few years later my dream came true, but in a slightly different
sense. Sun acquired MySQL and was later swallowed by Oracle giving me the
opportunity to join the company I wished I could have helped
build.
Oracle is an amazing …
SkySQL today announced that it has signed a merger agreement with Monty Program Ab, creators of the fastest growing open source database technology: MariaDB. This merger reunites key members of the original MySQL AB developer and services teams. Their aim is to develop MariaDB into a truly interoperable, NewSQL open source database in collaboration with its customers, partners and the community. The company also pledges to further evolve its offering for users of the MySQL database.
