Thank you for joining us at Percona Live, NYC 2012

Over 200 attendees attended last week’s Percona Live NY event. This year we structured event different than in 2011 with Tutorial Day allowing for in-depth 3 hour presentations for those looking to dive deep into specific topics. We also added an Expo Hall which allowed a lot of MySQL Ecosystem participant to meet their prospective customers and showcase their technology.

I was very pleased with momentum of this event seeing great discussions between attendees, attendees and sponsors as well as many of us doing business around MySQL reconnecting and having a lot of good conversations. As usually between my own talks and …

Announcing Percona XtraBackup 2.0.3

Percona is glad to announce the release of Percona XtraBackup 2.0.3 on October 1st, 2012. Downloads are available from our download site here and Percona Software Repositories.

This release is the current GA (Generally Available) stable release in the 2.0 series.

New Features:

  • innobackupex now supports new –move-back option that can be used instead of –copy-back in case there isn’t enough free disk space on the server to copy files. As this option removes backup files, it must be used with caution.

Bugs Fixed:

  • Symlink for innobackupex-1.5.1 binary has been broken in the previous version of XtraBackup. Bug …

Fusion-io atomic writes and DirectFS

Not so far ago Fusion-io announced SDK which provides direct API access to Fusion ioMemory(tm) in addition to providing a native filesystem (directFS) with a goal to avoid overhead from kernel and regular Linux filesystems: ext4 and xfs. Fusion-io will explain these features during our Percona Live New York conference and share performance numbers.

It is not too late to register for conference and talk with Fusion-io engineers directly. “PerconaNY” registration will give you 15% discount.

Percona XtraDB Cluster / Galera Tutorial at Percona Live NY 2012

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m delivering a tutorial on Percona XtraDB Cluster / Galera at Percona Live NY 2012 right in midtown-Manhattan on October 1st.

I really want this tutorial to be hands-on, not just a 3 hour lecture, so you can actually see how a cluster operates and interact with it.  So, I have come up with a set of walkthroughs for different features and areas of learning PXC using a common set of Virtual Machines setup with Vagrant and Puppet (which works on Linux, OSX, or Windows).  This sounds complicated, but it basically means we can create a test environment with a full 3-node cluster on …
