Last time I went to LaraconEU as in 2014 as speaker in the community track, it was my first international event ever speaking in english and I had jitters from it.

A lot a friends were made and it was nice to see all of them again this year.

What I also like about LaraconEU it is a Laravel conference that doesn’t talk always about Laravel, being a bit less insular than one would imagine.

Shawn McCool and his team made a great job this year and I was very honoured this year to be in the Track #1 (Blue Track).

The first round of applauses when I was introducing myself and saying this was my second Laracon made very much emotional and triggered something on my mind:

These people are there to soak in the knowledge you have to share, so give your best, and I confess I tried exactly that.

It is soon time for the annual Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco. This year it takes place from 18 to 22 September. There will be a wide range of talks about MySQL and other Oracle products with speakers including Oracle developers, product management, Support, customers, and community members. So there should be something for everyone.

MySQL Support will have two talks this year:

From October 3rd to 5th, the MySQL Engineering and Community Team will be in Amsterdam to present MySQL 8.0 at Percona Live.

The schedule to Percona Live Europe 2016 is being finalized. It should be published soon, and it will include 3 hour and 6 hour tutorials, regular 50-minute talks, and shorter 25-minutes talks. It will not include, however, the lightning talks, a session comprising several 5-minute talks, and they are missing from the initial schedule for two reasons:

• We want to offer a chance to all attendees to propose a lightning talk for some time. We would like to have more quality material to choose from.
• They will not be in the conference venue. Instead, they will be hosted at Booking, during the community dinner.

Two weeks after the big annual event in San Francisco, Oracle Open World 2016 , September 18-22, there will be another MySQL focused event in Europe: Percona Live Amsterdam, October 3-5.

The MySQL Engineering Team and Community Team will be present. We have submitted a list of very interesting talks, mostly related to the upcoming new major release of MySQL.
