Many a times we have faced this problem that when we commit something and it breaks something on the server due to some syntax error.
I know that these can be caught by IDEs and good editors, but sometimes there might be an syntax error introduced after a code merge conflict resolution and commit.
To address this, we can use git pre-commit hooks to check for any syntax errors in the to be committed files.

Hello dear readers and attendees,

This is the post that I will be/ will have been referencing during my presentation to the Seattle Central Community College’s Byte club on Thursday, December 10th at 1500-1630.

I will begin with a bit of an autobio and find out what kind of students we have in attendance. Please feel free to comment if you’d like to keep in touch before or after the presentation. I will discuss some of the bits and pieces of some industry standard platforms which I’ve developed, deployed, maintained, managed, co-operated, administered and replaced. We can discuss some of the patterns that work well in the industry, and some that are a bit harder to tame.

We are very pleased to announce that the MySQL Connector/Net source code has been added to GitHub. All of our versions can be found at MySQL Connector/Net repository, under the umbrella of the MySQL organization. This repository will expose the source code of the latest generally available (GA) releases. Same versions that are available in the official MySQL download site.

There are no changes to the releases cycles or the channels that we use for publishing new versions of Connector/Net. The purpose of publishing on GitHub is providing our users a quicker way to get the source code of all our GA versions. The repository contains all history since 6.7 alpha version.

I have released MySQL-Sandbox 3.1.01, which is the first release after the move to GitHub. While the changes are not so spectacular (it's a minor release, with mostly bug fixes), I am pleased to see that the move has started producing collaboration. Two of the changes were provided by Daniël van Eeden and Mark Leith, who have scratched some of their own itches by providing useful patches.

All in all, this period of working with GitHub has been liberating. Although Bazaar plays with the same principles of git, it lacks most of the tools and the know-how which characterizes git. Add to this that also my team has moved Tungsten Replicator …
