I have put up a set of scripts on github: https://github.com/stewartsmith/bzr-to-git-conversion-scripts. Why do I need these? Well… if only bzr fast-export|git fast-import worked flawlessly for large, complex and old trees. It doesn’t.

Basically, when you clone this repo you can run “./sync-BLAH.sh” and it’ll pull BZR trees for the project, convert to git and clean things up a bit. You will likely have to edit the sync-BLAH.sh scripts as I have them pointed at branches on my own machine (to speed up the process, not having to do fresh BZR branches of MySQL trees over the network is a feature - it’s never been fast.). You’ll also want to edit the git remotes to point where you want git trees to end up.

I was pleased to see Morgan’s announcement about a fix to an old problem of mine. In March 2012 I complained about MySQL verbosity during installation.

In MySQL 5.7.3, this behavior was changed. While the default is still as loud as it can, you can now add an option (log_error_verbosity) to send only errors to STDERR, which allows you to hide the output of mysql_install_db, and still get the errors, if they occur.

The call for participation at Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2014 is now closed. There have been more than 320 submissions, and this will keep the review committee busy for a while.

One important point for everyone who has submitted: if you have submitted a proposal but haven’t included a bio in your account, do it now. You may think that you already know what's the opposite of "DISABLED", but with MySQL Event Scheduler you'll be wrong.

In fact MySQL Event Scheduler may have three different states[1][2]:

DISABLED -  The Event Scheduler thread does not run [1]. In addition, the Event Scheduler state cannot be changed at runtime.
OFF (default) - The Event Scheduler thread does not run [1]. When the Event Scheduler is OFF it can be started by setting the value of event_scheduler to ON.
ON - The Event Scheduler is started; the event scheduler thread runs and executes all scheduled events.

So if you're going to find it in the DISABLED state and instinctively set it to ENABLED you'll end up with a non-starting MySQL daemon.
